Shepherding Ministry
“Tend My sheep.” — Jesus in John 21:16
The Shepherding Ministry of Cross Creek PCA exists to provide spiritual care for those who belong to the covenant community of CCPC, to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes” (Ephesians 4:11-14). Each family or individual is assigned to one of the Ruling Elders or Teaching Elders as that family’s or person’s Shepherding Elder. We aim for the Shepherding Elders to have regular contact with the members under their care and oversight.
God’s Word says that the leaders are to keep watch over the souls of the Church, as those who will give an account to God (Hebrews 13:17). The stewardship of an Elder involves teaching, counseling, encouraging, correcting, and praying. The Good Shepherd laid down His life for the sheep (John 10:11). As His under-shepherds, the Elders of the Church seek to give their lives to tend His sheep.
In 2 Corinthians 2:16 Paul asked, “Who is sufficient for these things?” Every sincere Elder feels a similar weight of responsibility. As you consider this Shepherding Ministry, please pray for our Elders. We will boast with Paul when he says that Christ’s grace is sufficient, for His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
To God All Praise and Glory!

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!
For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? Or who has given a gift to Him that he might be repaid?
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.
