ORDER OF WORSHIP

8-14-22

Greeting

Call to Worship                                                               1 Timothy 1:17

To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Invocation

* Hymn # 38                               “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise”

Call to Confession                                                     1 Timothy 1:18-19

This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith, among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan that they may learn not toblaspheme.

Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon                                                 1 Timothy 1:15-16

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

* Hymn # 253                         “There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood”

* Old & New Testament Scripture Reading:

Law: Exodus 14:13-18 (The LORD Fights for His People)

Gospels: John 6:22-40 (The Lord Will Save His People)

Epistles: Ephesians 1:1-14 (The Lord’s Glory Is the Portion of His People)

* Pastor: This is the Word of our God.

* Congregation: The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever.

* Sermon Text                               Psalm 16 (New King James Version)

A Michtam of David.

1  Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.

2  O my soul, you have said to the LORD,

“You are my Lord,

My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

3  As for the saints who are on the earth,

“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”

4  Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;

Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,

Nor take up their names on my lips.

5  O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;

You maintain my lot.

6  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;

Yes, I have a good inheritance.

7  I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;

My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

8  I have set the LORD always before me;

Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;

My flesh also will rest in hope.

10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,

Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

11 You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

* Pastor: Thus far the reading of God’s holy Word. And may God add His blessing to the reading of His Word.

* Congregation: Thanks be to God!

  • Romans 11:33-36

    Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!
    For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? Or who has given a gift to Him that he might be repaid?
    For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.
