Wednesdays @ 6:30- Corporate Prayer – We want to enrich our communion with God in prayer by filling our minds with God’s truth.

Following the counsel of Martin Luther, we are going to study The Apostles’ Creed with a view to prayer. The Apostles’ Creed is not Scripture, but it is scriptural, summarizing the Bible’s grand narrative in a Trinitarian structure. With an eye to God’s plan of redemption from creation to new creation, The Apostles’ Creed provides much truth on which to reflect for a healthier prayer life. Please, join us on Wednesday evenings. Children are welcome, indeed, encouraged to come and participate.

Adult Bible Fellowship– Sunday 9:30 am– Join us as we continue our study Hearing the Gospel from the Old Testament

Are you reading the Bible with the Apostles? Funny question, I know. There have been a couple of books published in recent years with titles like Reading the Scriptures with the Church Fathers and Reading the Scriptures with the Reformers. The idea is that we can learn a lot about how to approach and appropriate the Bible from godly teachers of the past. We can observe how they interpreted and applied the ancient text to the benefit of their generation, so that we can more effectively do the same in ours. Well why stop traveling back in time with the Reformers and the Church Fathers. Let’s just go back to the first century, and read the Bible with the Apostles. They left us with much commentary and application on the Old Testament that can help us learn to appropriate the message of the Old Testament for our generation. This is the aim of our ABF study “Hearing the Gospel from the Old Testament.” Join us as we hear God speaking the gospel to Adam, Abraham, Moses, and David. You will grow in your love for the Old Testament and in awe of Jesus Christ, to whom the Old Testament bears witness (Luke 24:44-47).

Men, you won’t want to miss this life-deepening study we are beginning on the book A God Entranced Vision of All Things: The Legacy of Jonathan Edwards, edited by John Piper and Justin Taylor. Contributors to the book include John Piper, Stephen J. Nichols, and J. I. Packer. This is not dry and dusty old history and biography. These chapters will challenge you personally to glorify and enjoy God in all of life. Part One looks at the life of Edwards so that we might consider the outcome of his life and imitate his faith. Part Two explores the discipline, ministry, and thought of Edwards to awaken us spiritually to pursue God’s glory with a whole heart. In Part Three the authors take some of the writings of Jonathan Edwards and distill the powerful truths of those works for our understanding and edification. You hear him mentioned from the pulpit, on Christian radio, and in Bible studies quite often. But, perhaps like many, your exposure to Jonathan Edwards has only been in an American literature anthology that highlighted his sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. Let me assure you that there is much more that this one whom many consider “the greatest philosopher-theologian yet to grace the American scene” has to offer you. Hebrews 13:7 exhorts us to “remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” This Men’s Bible Study is a great way to put this into practice.

We look forward to seeing you every first and third Saturday of the month at 7:30 am for a rousing time of fellowship around the glory of God!

Wednesday @ 6:30 pm we are gathering for prayer and learning to use the Ten Commandments to fuel our prayers. We seek to be child-friendly, so bring the whole family to pray with your church family.

Martin Luther counseled his barber to memorize the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Ten Commandments as aids for his prayer life. We are following Luther’s counsel by thinking through the implications of the Ten Commandments for our understanding of God, ourselves, and the world in which we live. God’s law helps us to see more clearly God’s perfections. This leads us to praise and adore Him. His law also exposes our sin, which leads us to humble confession. We also find that His law reveals His daily and eternal kindness to us, which makes our thanksgiving pour out. Finally, in the light of His law we see our needs as well as the needs of those around us more accurately and are able to pray in specific ways for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Join your church family Wednesday night to seek the Lord’s face together.
