The Seventh Annual Operation Medicine Drop

March 18, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Seventh Annual Operation Medicine Drop, sponsored by the Southern Regional Area Health Education Center, UNC Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy, NC Safe and the Fayetteville Police departments will be held on March 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event, featuring six sites in Fayetteville, provides the community with the opportunity to return unused and expired medications for proper disposal. Poisoning from prescription medications is a growing problem in North Carolina, with nearly 4500 deaths since 1999 being attributed to prescription drug poisoning. In addition to preventing prescription drug poisoning, this event offers the community an opportunity to return medications that are still in original stock bottles for donation. Medications deemed appropriate by licensed pharmacists are donated to Cumberland County Medication Assistance Program (CCMAP), a program for Cumberland County residents who lack income to obtain their prescriptions.
