Mission to the homeless
CUMBERLAND INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK (CIHN)
In February, 2001 Cross Creek Presbyterian Church began working with
Cumberland Interfaith Hospitality Network (CIHN). We felt that helping the
homeless in our city was something that we needed to participate in.
We host homeless children and their families (up to 14 people) overnight
for a week, once a quarter. We provide dinner and breakfast at the church
and a ‘sack lunch’ for the families to take with them during the day. We
have volunteers come in for an hour or so in the evenings to help with
activities for the children, volunteer families supply dinner and
Christian fellowship each evening, and couples stay overnight at the
church.
