Puritan: All of Life to the Glory of God

Learn more of your Presbyterian and Reformed Christian heritage with two opportunities:

Adult Bible Fellowship (Sunday 9:30 am in the Sanctuary): October 6, 13, 20, 27. During these sessions we will survey the Puritan movement to consider the outcome of their lives and to imitate their faith (Hebrews 13:7). In each session we will watch 30 minutes of a 2 hour long documentary on the Puritans by Media Gratiae. After the video portion we will have discussion and application for our times.

Wednesday Evening Study (6:30-7:30 pm in the ABF Room): October 2-November 13. During these sessions we will focus on Puritan pastors and influential figures to gain a deeper understanding of the faith and love that moved them to suffer for the sake of God’s elect.

This is Part 1 of a 4 part series on the Puritans. In these 7 weeks we will cover 13 out of 34 total lessons. We will study the remainder of the lessons in 2020. The student workbook recommended for each participant covers all 34 lessons. In this first part we will be introduced to William Perkins, Richard Sibbes, Oliver Cromwell, Thomas Goodwin, Richard Baxter, John Owen, Christopher Love, John Bunyan, John Flavel, Matthew Henry, Jonathan Edwards, Katherine Willoughby, and Anne Bradstreet. This is a video curriculum. Each video segment is 10-20 minutes long. We will cover two videos each week, watching one video, pausing for discussion, then watching the second, followed by discussion. The workbook is highly recommended for homeschool, personal study, and devotional use.

Why study the Puritans? To fan into flame your love for the Triune God whom the  Puritans delighted to proclaim.

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!
For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? Or who has given a gift to Him that he might be repaid?
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen.
